Stand-up Sally is my sidekick that I created and that I am going to talk about today. But she wasn’t always like this. Before she was named Stand-up Sally, she was called Sly Sally. Instead of standing up for others, she was cruel and took things that didn’t belong to her—like food, toys, and water. She never did anything for others. She always dyed her fur black, and she always worked alone.

But one day, about a year ago, I was walking to the dog park to meet some friends when I witnessed the most courageous act I have ever seen. A young girl with her puppy was being attacked by some young men who were saying that they were the boss of her. They were taking her puppy and said she would never get it back.

But Sly Sally heard this—and suddenly, she felt something inside her. She felt brave. She felt like she could do anything. Then she started to growl and bark, but the boys didn’t care. Then Courageous Collette came and stepped in to help. Now there were two against three. The boys didn’t back down, but the girl who owned the puppy also stepped in—and then it was even.

The boys finally backed down and gave the puppy back. After the whole drama, Courageous Collette offered Sly Sally the chance to work with her and be her sidekick. And since she was going to be her sidekick, she had to have a better name than Sly Sally. They were going to name her Stand-up Sally—and she would no longer dye her fur black, but let it be white.

THE END.
